President Trump historically reformed the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to give our nation’s men and women in uniform the best care possible.

For years under the Obama-Biden administration, veterans were put last. President Trump signed Veterans Choice into law, expanding their access to doctors outside the VA. The Trump Administration delivered accountability when it signed sweeping legislation to make it possible to fire ineffective VA staff who were not functioning in their job.

Under President Trump’s leadership, every VA medical facility offers emergency mental healthcare and 24/7 access to the VA Hotline. The Trump Administration has also taken action to improve telehealth services during the Coronavirus pandemic, a key initiative within the VA.

While Biden was in office, the VA failed to provide veterans the resources they needed.

  • “The secret wait-list scandal of 2014 revealed a VA that was more worried about its reputation than the veterans it was charged to support. To appear like it was treating veterans in a timely fashion, VA health care officials hid veterans with particularly long waits on unofficial lists, which caused many of them to suffer unbearable delays in treatment,” The Hill reported in 2016.
